Fair Trade Certified™

An ever-growing number of our products are Fair Trade Certified™ for sewing, which means we pay a premium to the workers in the factories that make them. The Fair Trade program also helps to create better working conditions and safeguards against the use of child labor.

bluesign® System

Every textile Patagonia uses is the result of a complicated manufacturing process, making it difficult for them to evaluate all the raw materials, dyes and chemical auxiliary materials each of their suppliers use. bluesign® technologies, based in Switzerland, helps with this analysis, working at each step in the textile supply chain to assess and approve chemicals, processes, materials and products that are safe for the environment, workers and customers.

Made without PFAS / PFC

Water repellency doesn’t just keep you comfortable, it keeps you alive. But for decades now, the coatings used in apparel to improve water-repellency have relied on per- or polyfluorinated chemicals, which contain fluorine and are most often referred to by their acronyms: PFCs, PFOAs or PFAS. This class of “forever chemicals” accumulates in air, water, food and even our bodies, and they raise serious health concerns, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Recycled Polyester

An important fiber in Patagonia's line, polyester allows them to build lightweight materials that dry quickly and can be used in a variety of applications, including trail-running tops and yoga tights. Polyester also blends well with natural fabrics like cotton. But virgin polyester is derived from petroleum, which comes at a high environmental cost.

Love this Jacket!

I love this jacket. In fact, I have two! I bought it a couple years ago for a trip to Africa, where it packed very well in the limited amount of space we were allowed, and was the perfect weight for all kinds of conditions. Also made a great pillow when needed! The color is so versatile; it can be worn with almost anything. I live between two states, and searched for the second jacket for over a year to keep in both homes, and had given up hope. Alas, on my last desperate search, I found it at the Bend Patagonia. Was thrilled to find it, although it did have one slight difference: the Patagonia logo label is on the front. No biggie! I think the thing I love best about it is it the casual fit, but not too puffy that I look like a marshmallow. And the color! Can’t beat it.
