Description:

The Wind Shield Pants provide lightweight wind protection and weather resistance during high-output, cold-weather activities, while also releasing excess heat and moisture through strategically placed breathable panels. Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.

Specs & Features:

• Stretchy soft-shell fabric wards off wind, and a durable water repellent (DWR) finish that's made without perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs/PFAS) resists light precipitation; Capilene® Cool Lightweight fabric bonded to the inside provides fast-drying comfort and a soft next-to-skin feel

• Soft brushed-terry fabric (the same as our Peak Mission Tights) on the lower-back legs adds soft warmth and dumps heat, even at high exertion, with HeiQ® Pure odor control to keep things smelling fresh for longer

• Soft, stretchy waistband with an external drawcord for comfort and adjustable fit

• Two no-bounce, zippered side pockets hold a phone, snacks, a map and more while on the move

• Zippered openings and stretch-woven gussets at the cuffs offer easy on/off over shoes or Nordic boots

• Slim-fit pants with a reflective logo on the left thigh and reflective tape on the lower legs

• Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory, which means the people who made this product earned a premium for their labor

Fair Trade Certified™

An ever-growing number of our products are Fair Trade Certified™ for sewing, which means we pay a premium to the workers in the factories that make them. The Fair Trade program also helps to create better working conditions and safeguards against the use of child labor.

Recycled Nylon

Nylon is one of the strongest plastics we use in our products. When we need a super-lightweight fabric, nylon is vital for its strength. But nylon is a petroleum-based material, and producing it has a high cost in energy and greenhouse gases. Incorporating as much recycled nylon as we can lessens our dependence on virgin petroleum as a raw material source, helps eliminate discarded material and reduces greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing.

Recycled Polyester

An important fiber in Patagonia's line, polyester allows them to build lightweight materials that dry quickly and can be used in a variety of applications, including trail-running tops and yoga tights. Polyester also blends well with natural fabrics like cotton. But virgin polyester is derived from petroleum, which comes at a high environmental cost.

Fluorinated DWR

Fluorinated DWR finish is a functional chemical coating containing PFCs (short for perfluorocarbons) that the outdoor industry has long relied on to make garments water-resistant. But, they’re nonbiodegradable chemicals with an environmental cost. PFCs are extremely effective at repelling water, but because of their impact, Patagonia is in the process of making all of their membranes and water-repellent finishes without PFCs or PFAS by 2025.

Made without PFAS / PFC

Water repellency doesn’t just keep you comfortable, it keeps you alive. But for decades now, the coatings used in apparel to improve water-repellency have relied on per- or polyfluorinated chemicals, which contain fluorine and are most often referred to by their acronyms: PFCs, PFOAs or PFAS. This class of “forever chemicals” accumulates in air, water, food and even our bodies, and they raise serious health concerns, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Patagonia is converting all of their durable water-repellent membranes and finishes to non-fluorinated alternatives by 2025.
